We took a small break from home and traveled to Fayetteville, NC this week to visit our son 1st Lt. Matt Rigdon who is currently serving our country with the 82nd Airborne Division out of Ft. Bragg here in North Carolina. Yesterday we were able to see him and other members of the 82nd's 3rd Brigade Combat Team jump from a perfectly good airplane!
Admittedly we were a bit anxious, but all went well. It's a very impressive site to see the paratroopers stream from the aircraft, a C-130 in this case, and float to the ground. It was funny to hear some of them "whooping" and "hollering" on the way down also. Always fun to watch someone doing what they love AND getting paid for it!
A lot of these men and women will be deployed to some scary places over the next few weeks. We will keep all of them in our prayers as they serve our country here and around the world. We're so blessed to live in a country where our armed forces are made up of people who volunteered to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Moreover. to sacrifice a portion of their lives for the protection of our way of life. Here a few images Lisa and I captured yesterday at the drop zone. Enjoy!
